UNITED STATES CAPTURES FIRST RUNNER-UP IN THE MISS TEEN WORLD
Queensland, Australia – Ashley Sagisi Moser, Miss Teen World U.S., placed first runner-up and Miss Congeniality in Sunday’s (April 29) 2007 Miss Teen World Pageant held in the world renowned region of Queensland, The Gold Coast, Australia. The 15-year-old Honolulu resident is a sophomore at one of the most prestigious and grueling private college preparatory schools in America – Punahou School. Emily Gutierrez who represented Puerto Rico was crowned Miss Teen World 2007 and 2nd runner up went to Miss Teen World Canada Cali Tanner.
Fourteen countries vied for the coveted title of Miss Teen World 2007. The contestants had a fun-filled weekend jam packed with awesome activities. They were graciously hosted at Sea World Resort from April 23 to 30, 2007. The teens learned different cultures, languages, and other representatives’ way of life. The girls who competed came from around the world ages 14-19. They competed in Swimwear, Evening Gown, Costume, Personal Interviews and on-stage extemporaneous Interview. Talent was an optional division and was not a requirement for winning the title. A panel of 8 judges from the Australia region, South Africa, Puerto Rico were on hand as well as Fashion TV which provided highlights and coverage of the pageant to be aired this summer. Other Awards included: Miss Talent - Bahamas, Best in Costume - Puerto Rico, Miss Congeniality - United States, Miss Photogenic - Siberia, Best Swimsuit- Siberia. Due to the organizers unforeseen incident, the pageant was held at Fratelli’s Restaurant by the waterfront. Overall, the girls had a wonderful and enriching experience, and made lasting friendships that will last a lifetime.
